Editing Site Settings Files
You may need to edit or update a setting in the installer configuration
settings file for HotDocs Advance
after installation. You can do this by following the procedure below.
You should always edit the installation settings file and use the generate
and upload commands to update Advance application settings. You should
never edit the application settings files directly.

Prerequisites
Before you begin, you should have a copy of the Advance
deployment zip file, containing all necessary installation files.
To edit the site
settings files
1. Backup the Advance installation folders
You should make a backup
of the existing HotDocs Advance
installation folders before you edit the settings.
2. Edit the installer configuration settings file
- Unzip the Advance Installer zip file.
- Open the Windows Command Prompt as an administrator.
- Navigate to the unzipped HotDocs Advance
folder.
- Navigate to the bin folder.
- The site settings files are stored in the SettingsTemp
folder, inside the Advance installer files bin folder. For example,
C:\Users\yourname\Downloads\HdaAdvance\bin\SettingsTemp.
- Edit the installation
configuration settings as you require.
3. Stop the site under which Advance
is installed
- Open Internet Information Services
(IIS) Manager.
- In the Connections pane,
navigate to the site under which Advance
is installed; for example, Default
Web Site.
- In the Actions pane, click
Stop.
4. Generate the site settings configuration file
- To generate the updated site settings file for your Advance instance,
you should generate the
site settings files.
- To deploy the updated site settings to your Advance instance, you
should upload the site
settings files.
5. Restart the IIS site
- Open Internet Information Services
(IIS) Manager.
- In the Connections pane,
navigate to the site under which Advance
is installed; for example, Default
Web Site.
- In the Actions pane, click
Start.
Advance now uses the updated settings.
