Adding a Placeholder for a Computation

When you're editing a template, you use the HotDocs Field Editor to add a placeholder field for the value returned by a computation.

To add a placeholder field for a computation

  1. Open a template.
  2. Select the text you want to replace, or position the cursor where you want to add a placeholder field.
  3. In the HotDocs Field Editor, from the Action list, select Add a placeholder icon Add a placeholder.
  4. In the Placeholder type list, in the Computed values section, select Computation icon Computation.
  5. In the Field properties list Computation field, type the name for your new computation (or select an existing computation from the drop-down list).
  6. For a new computation, click Create Now.
  7. The following tasks are optional:
    1. (Optional) Click the Edit component button Edit component icon to edit the properties for your computation.
    2. (Optional) Expand Advanced properties to edit further component properties.

If you selected existing text when adding a placeholder field, you can select the Replace Multiple check box to display the replace options.

  1. Click Add Field.
