Deleting a HotDocs Field
When you're editing a template, there are a few different ways to completely delete a HotDocs field.
To delete a HotDocs field
For many users, the most obvious way to delete a field is by using the backspace key:
- In a template, position your cursor at the end of the HotDocs field you wish to delete.
- Press Backspace enough times to remove all of the text and brackets contained in the HotDocs field.
- When the content control is empty, press Backspace once more to completely delete the HotDocs field.
You may also delete a Hotdocs field by clicking anywhere in a HotDocs Field and:
- Pressing Ctrl + Shift + . (this keyboard shortcut is not available in Composer)
- At the bottom of the HotDocs Field Editor, click the (red X) Delete field button
-
Clicking on the three vertical dots portion of the content control and pressing Backspace or Delete
Deleting a field does not delete the component referenced by that field.
To undo a HotDocs field deletion
-
After you delete a field using the steps above.
-
On the Word ribbon, click the Undo button.
You can only use the undo method to step back through edits since you last opened the template. If you have saved and closed the template since you deleted the field you won't be able to recover it.
