Forward Publishing

Forward Publishing is a set date and time at which a template becomes accessible to users.

For example, if a new legal agreement template refers to legislation that only comes into effect the following year, you can upload a template immediately and set the forward publishing date to only make the template available to users on the first day of the following year.

Overview

Forward Publishing enables you to upload a template without making it immediately available to users, and automatically make it available after a set date. This is often used when a template contains new content that should only be available to users after a specific date. For example, if a template contains content only relevant in the next financial year, you could upload the template in the current financial year and set the forward publishing date to the first day of the next financial year.

Common Tasks

Time Zone used for Forward Publishing date

Forward Publishing uses the time zone of the user that sets the Forward Publishing date.

For example, if a user's computer is set to the UTC-05:00 time zone and they set a Forward Publishing date of 09:00 01/27/2025, the template is published on 09:00 01/27/2025 UTC-05:00.

Setting a Forward Publishing Date for a Template

The Forward Publishing date is initially set when a template is uploaded to the HotDocs Hub. For more information, see Set a Forward Publishing date during template upload.
