HotDocs Hub enables you to reset the passwords for all users in a tenancy, if you are logged in as a root administrator.

The password reset function can only be used with Hub installations that do not use Active Directory

Overview

A password reset requires that all active users (i.e. users with their login enabled) in a tenancy reset their password. This action can only be initiated by a root administrator.

When a root administrator initiates a password reset, Hub sends an e-mail to all active users. The e-mail contains a temporary password and a link to the Hub login. On accessing the login page and logging in with the temporary password, users are prompted to enter a new password. Once the reset is complete, users can login with their new password.

Common Tasks

Root User password

The root user that initiates the password reset does not have their own password changed. Other root users will have their passwords reset.

SMTP Settings

When a root administrator initiates a password reset, Hub sends an e-mail to all active users. As such, your SMTP server must be capable of sending e-mails to all the users in your Hub tenancy. Before resetting passwords, you should check that any limit set for the Hub notifications e-mail address (configured by the EmailFromAddress setting, set when installing Hub) exceeds the number of users in your tenancy.
