Creating Documents from Multiple Templates
When a work item has multiple templates attached, you create documents by launching each template individually. All templates share the same answer set, but each template produces its own documents.
Multi-template work items must be enabled for the work group by an administrator.
Preview Feature
The implementation of multi-template work items in the current version is a preview.
As a preview feature, multi-template work items are intended for evaluation and early adoption. Feature behavior, limitations and integration support may change before general availability.
The following features are not currently available when using work items with multiple templates:
• iManage integration
• Client interviews
• Image variables (answer packages are not supported)
• Work item versions
• Default answers
The above features are currently being worked on and will be released incrementally.
To create a document from a template
- Open the work item.
- Select the Templates tab.
- Locate the template you want to use.
- Select Launch next to that template.
- Complete the interview; answers already in the shared answer set are pre-populated.
- Select Finish.
The document is assembled from the selected template and added to the work item's document list.
Viewing documents created from a template
- The Documents column shows how many documents have been assembled from each template.
- Select the document count link to view documents associated with that template.
- You can also view all assembled documents in the Documents tab of the work item.
Creating documents from multiple templates
You can repeat the interview process for any template in the work item.
Because all templates share the same answer set:
- Previously entered answers are reused automatically.
- If a template requires additional information, you are prompted to provide it.
- New answers become available to all templates in the work item.
Because documents are assembled individually per template, a work item can contain documents assembled at different stages of a matter.
Reassembling documents after changes
You can update answers and reassemble documents from any template as many times as needed.
Previously assembled documents do not update automatically when answers change. Reassembly is required to reflect updated information.
