The New User Interface Preview
The new user interface (UI) preview introduces a modernized experience for creating and managing work items. It provides support for multi-template workflows, clearer status feedback and improved accessibility.
Preview Feature
The implementation of multi-template work items in the current version is a preview.
As a preview feature, multi-template work items are intended for evaluation and early adoption. Feature behavior, limitations and integration support may change before general availability.
The following features are not currently available when using work items with multiple templates:
• iManage integration
• Client interviews
• Image variables (answer packages are not supported)
• Work item versions
• Default answers
The above features are currently being worked on and will be released incrementally.
Key Improvements
The new version offers enhancements in the following areas:
Multi-Template Work Items
You can now create and manage work items that contain multiple templates within a single workflow.
With multi-template work items, you can:
- Add, remove and reorder templates directly from the work items details pane.
- Launch and complete interviews for each template within the same work item.
- View all documents assembled from all templates in the work item in one unified view.
This approach reduces duplication, streamlines related document assemblies and makes it easier to manage complex document sets.
Redesigned Work Item Details Pane
The work item details pane has been redesigned to improve clarity and navigation. It now uses a three-tab layout:
- Templates: Manage templates in the work item, launch interview and view template-level data.
- Documents: View, filter and download assembled documents. You can filter documents by template to see only those assembled by a specific template.
- Details: Review metadata associated with the work item.
Assembly State Management
To provide clearer feedback during document assembly, the UI now manages assembly states explicitly.
- After completing an interview, the work item enters a read-only Assembly in Progress state.
- A persistent banner displays the current status:
- Processing
- Post-processing
- Failed
- While assembly is in progress:
- Editing templates and launching new interviews is disabled.
- The UI updates automatically when documents are ready, no manual refresh is required.
If assembly or post-processing fails, clear error messages display to help you understand what went wrong.
Responsiveness
The new UI has been designed with accessibility and usability in mind:
- Fully responsive across screen sizes.
- Meets WCAG AAA accessibility standards.
- Modernized look and feel.
- Improved navigation.
- Feedback for loading and error states.
Enabling the New UI Preview
Multi-template work items and the new UI are available as a preview feature and must be enabled at a work group level.
When enabled:
- Multi-template work groups automatically use the new UI preview.
- Work groups that are not configured for multi-template work items continue to use the existing UI.
- Navigating between the UI versions is handled automatically when you select different work groups.
API compatibility
API 1.1 integrations only support single-template work items. Multi-template work items require API 2.0 and will not be visible to API 1.1 integrations.
