Creating and Editing an Alternate Text List Component

You use an Alternate Text List component to define the text values you want to place into the final assembled document in place of a Multiple Choice variable's options.

To create and edit an Alternate Text List component in Component Studio

  1. Open Component Studio.
  2. At the top of the main components list, click the components filter drop-down menu and select Alternate Text Lists.
  3. Click the Create a new alternate text list icon.
  4. In the Name field, type a name for the new Alternate Text List component, then click OK.
  5. In the Values column in the Behavior tab, type the list options you want HotDocs to place into the assembled document. As you fill in one row, a new row becomes available.
  6. Click Save.

To create and edit an Alternate Text List component in the HotDocs Field Editor

  1. Open a template.
  2. Select an existing Multiple-choice placeholder field or create a new one.
  3. In the field editor, select Use alternate text for each option.
  4. In the Options table, type in the alternate text you want HotDocs to place into the assembled document.
  5. (Optional) Next to the Alternate text drop-down list, click the Edit button to edit the newly created list component.
